Bybit and UNDP Collaborate to Launch Blockchain Accelerator for Sustainable Development

Bybit, the world’s 2nd largest crypto exchange by trading volume, has partnered with the UNDP. Together, they are launching the world’s first global blockchain accelerator and fund. The initiative aims to support blockchain projects that address challenges across the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in five global regions.
Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Singapore, Bybit has since developed a global user base of over 60 million. The platform is known for its bank-grade custody, curated marketplaces, and powerful blockchain technology. Through this process, the company helps to connect TradFi and DeFi. It fuels hackers, innovators, and dreamers to explore everything that Web3 has to offer. Bybit has committed US$1 million in funding to support EthicHub, a blockchain platform empowering smallholder farmers, through its "Bybit Pool" initiative. Bybit’s mission is to build a freer, fairer, and more open world.
Well, the Blockchain Gaming Alliance (BGA), led by new managing partner Glenn Tan, is doing something about it. They are collaborating with UNDP AltFinLab to fund and strategically support the most innovative blockchain projects. In January 2025, the UNDP Brussels Roundtable was able to highlight this collaboration. For BGA, it was a big moment as it was their first foray into Europe.
As a follow-up from the BGA’s Transportation for America and BGA hosted a roundtable with 30 influential delegates. Representatives from the UNDP, European Commission, and some of the top Web3 foundations such as the Ethereum Foundation and Solana Labs were present together with delegations from organizations such as the Stellar Development Foundation and Cardano Foundation.
At UNDP, we believe blockchain is not just a technology — it is a transformative force capable of reshaping how we address humanity's most pressing challenges. This accelerator program is more than an initiative; it is a call to action for innovators worldwide to harness blockchain's power to drive sustainable development. By fostering bold collaboration and leveraging its transparency and efficiency, we are paving the way for groundbreaking solutions that can uplift communities globally. - Teodor Petricevic, UNDP Accelerator Lead
